Jason Sutter - "Rudimental" Snare Solo

Jason Sutter (Babyface, Smashmouth, Chris Cornell) performs his "Rudimental" snare solo in Los Angeles (2010)

I was just looking around the web for some drumming exercises/techniques, and found Jason Sutter going ballistic (literally at points) with the rudiments.

The drum is considered among "the original musical instruments," but the 40 rudiments as they are recognized today have origins that date back as recently as 17th century Europe.

While I of course enjoy a technically complex solo on drum set, I also have a tremendous amount of respect for drum corps players and the sheer level of focus, discipline, sense of tradition, and overall craftsmanship that goes into their style of playing... I think it's safe to say this video is a fair example of what I'm talking about.

Don't know about you, but this makes me wanna go practice.
